How to Turn On Transfer Lock for a Domain

Most extensions have a transfer protection mechanism, that consists of a lock that can be put on the domain. When the transfer lock is enabled, the domain can’t be transferred.

Warning

Only individuals with the right permissions, such as an owner or administrative contact, can access the authorization code for domain transfers.

Note

Not all extensions have the ability to place a transfer lock. For example, most two letter extensions (country codes like “.fr”) do not have this feature.

To transfer a domain away from Gandi, you must disable the transfer lock.

You can unlock a single domain at a time or unlock many domains at once.
