Hi there,
I have recently created a wordpress install (with the most recent wordpress release-2.8.3). All works perfectly, except the Wordpress contact form.
I have tried a number of them, from the official wordpress contact form, to various third party forms, and none of them work.
I have suspicion it may be due to a lack of mailserver configuration on the webserver (on previous wordpress configurations I have used, the webserver had a mailserver configuration).
Can anyone please give some directions on where to look, or even a solution?
Any help is much appreciated.
thanks
bernard
Hi there,
I have found a mention of installing Postfix as a module on my Gandi AI server. Before I start looking at this, can someone from Gandi say if this is the preferred solution for allowing mail to be sent from the server?
thanks bernard
I installed Postfix. Used the information and guidance on this page http://wiki.gandi.net/en/hosting/create-server/gandi-ai/mail-server-configuration
And then found that the contact form that I had used on Wordpress on other hosting environments would not work (Contact Form 7) it appeared to work but no emails were being received at the email address that the form was sending to.
So, I found (via Google) a small PHP mailing script and tested this in the same environment as the wordpress installation and this worked.
So I then tried a different contact form plugin (called Contact Form Plugin by BestWebSoft) and this one worked. It is not as configurable as Contact Form 7 but it works.
I have no idea why one works and another doesn't and I plan to try others to see if I can find others that do work in the Gandi environment because I don't want to be dependent upon a single plugin.
I hope that this is helpful.
