Question "Using Django for the first time", by Andrew E.

This is my first website, and I still have a lot to learn. I would like to use Django because I am already somewhat familiar with Python. I installed Django (and Python for Apache) when I configured my server; however, I still get the Gandi parking page when I navigate to my site, and the htdocs folder is empty other than the Gandi parking page files. I am therefore under the impression that additional steps are needed before I can use Django. Or perhaps I am mistaken about exactly what Django is supposed to do. Am I correct in assuming that it is a web application framework and content management system?

Also, I really have no idea how to use the command prompt, terminal, shell, or whatever it is called. For that matter, I don't even know where to find it. Therefore, step-by-step instructions that include shell commands will not be of much use to me without also including instructions on how to find this shell thingy. Am I correct in assuming that this shell thingy is accessed using an FTP client? If so (and if shell commands are absolutely necessary) my FTP client of choice is Cyberduck. Why? Because its the only one I have figured out how to use even a little bit. The others are way over my head. I beg you: please don't make me change clients.

Thank you in advance for all your help.
