Now that Gandi are hiking their prices up 20% !!! during a recession, I am quite prepared to move providers despite the excellent service I have had over the years. Only now that I wish to move do I find that there are no contact details where I can get an EPP Number (authorization code) required to transfer the domain - Please tell me the EPP No. I need to use, or how I can get it.
To transfer your domain from Gandi to another registrar, first check that your domain has not expired, nor is it close to expiration. A simple Whois check will tell you that: https://www.gandi.net/whois
Then check if your domain is transfer protected (status transfer prohibited). If needed, unlock the domain: Log in into your account and go to your domain management page: https://www.gandi.net/admin/domain/change and modify the status of the transfer lock. Take that time to get your authorization code too. We have an illustrated guide on how to do this at http://wiki.gandi.net/en/domains/transfer/authcode
You need to be owner or administrative contact to be able to do this. After unlocking, wait for the whois update before going to the next step (usually less than one hour).
Then follow the transfer procedure with the new registrar.
You will have nothing to pay to Gandi. Authorize the transfer according to the new registrar's requirements. The demand will be sent to the registry, who will then pass it to Gandi.
The domain's contacts will receive an information email, in the form of "IMPORTANT: Transfer of … to another registrar".
In this message you will find a link, that will allow you to accelerate or stop the transfer. Your action will be taken into account immediately.
If you don't use that link, the transfer will be tacitly accepted after 5 days.
As a reminder, the Gandi Wiki and Gandi Groups are not for official support from Gandi. They are for peer-to-peer customer support. If you have any specific questions, please send in a Support Ticket: http://www.gandi.net/support/contact/
