Question "wildcard forwarding", by Terry B.

Greetings. I want to forward all traffic to *.mydomain to a specific ip. this isn't only www traffic but mail, https etc. if I create an a record with a * as the name, will this work or is there a better way. I want mail.mydomain, ftp.mydomain smtp.mydomain etc to all forward to the server which is hosting it. what is the best way to accomplish this?

Hello,

Yes, you want to use a * as the name of your A record, as this will do precisely what you would like to do.

What needs to be added to be able to even forward all traffic to *.*.mydomain or even *.*.*.mydomain to a specific ip?

Just tried "*" (no ") to use as a wildcard for forwarding and it was refused. Suggestion was to try "0" (no ") instead. Is this correct and will it have the same function as * to forward all those who can't spel?
