Question "CNAME http://www.* and http://*", by C B.

Hi,

I need to add a CNAME entry to direct http://domain.com to the location of my website. I've managed to set it up for http://www.domain.com but it doesn't work without the www.

It seems so obvious that I'm sure all the info is somewhere in the documentation, but I'm having trouble finding it!

Thanks,

It is impossible by technical restraints to point a CNAME record at a bare domain. We are sorry if this poses a problem. If it is possible, try to get the IP address of the URL you are using for your CNAME record and point your domain's A record at that.

I too have spent hours trying to understand why www.mysite.pro 'works' but http://mysite.pro does not. Even the answer above leaves me wondering what you mean–and I do this for a living for many many years now… Is it possible to at least point us to a step-by-step guide to making this work? I cannot have my site resolve to a default camping domain page despite my best efforts to research and configure how gandi vps dns works. Thanks…

mysite.pro is not registered with Gandi. It is currently registered with EnCirca. Please contact them regarding that domain.
