Question "Domain Name and Zone", by Reuven K.

My domain is koblick.com. My isp changed ip address from 68.162.220.205 to 72.85.233.130. I modified the zones file and updated the dns entries for koblick.com. I also made the appropriate changes on my name server. But when I dig @ns6.gandi.net, it resolves to the old address. Aren't changes made immediately?

Answer, by Sebastien Y.

It takes 24 to 72 hours for dns to be updated. This information is spreading to all ISP and takes time to travel. You may even experience the old and new address working for a short amount of time in different side of the planet.

No, something is wrong on Gandi's end. I'm having the same issue. The propagation delay that always occurs is due to servers all around the world caching the old information and not immediately requesting the information from the (up to date DNS server). Using `dig` directly at ns6.gandi.net should definitely work. That it isn't means the information can't/won't propagate until Gandi is reporting the right information to servers.

Hi all,

For ns6.gandi.net the change take ~45 min to reload zone.
