CentOS 5.6 should be used with the heavily customised 2.6.18 kernel released by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor.
It is known to work with Gandi's 2.6.27-gandi-2777 kernel with some issues.
Logwatch occur when using a non-standard kernel without the correct CONFIG_AUDIT and CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALL options set
The bug has been logged in the CentOS Bug Tracker:
set_loginuid failed opening loginuid
The temporary solution is to comment out the following line in /etc/pam.d/crond, /etc/pam.d/sshd, /etc/pam.d/login, /etc/pam.d/remote and possibly others:
session required pam_loginuid.so
Then restart the crond:
# /etc/init.d/crond restart
iSCSI and iSCSId packages will be installer by default by CentOS, as iSCSI is not used on virtual machines, it may log many errors, that will make your system disk full after a while.
You can stop the services/daemons and uninstall those packages without problem.
