The redemption period is a 7-day period during which we keep your server in its last known configuration, so that you can renew your resources late.
This section explains the redemption period, and shows you how to relaunch the services once your server has been put on pause due to the redemption status.
The hosting resources that you have subscribed to at Gandi must be renewed when due, and it is therefore necessary to perform the renewal of your hosting resources correctly, either monthly, yearly, and depending on the type of resources used.
When you reach your server's expiration date (and if you did not renew it before its due date), you will get an automatic email that informs you that your server has been paused and put on redemption period. You are also asked to renew your hosting resources at that time if you want to keep your server.
Important:
Our system places servers on pause that have components which have expired: all the components needed for the resource must be free before it (the resource expiration agent of our system) can release them from your account following the redemption period. If one of your servers uses components of the resource that has expired, it is put on pause for a duration of 7 days, and its configuration is left as-is during that period.
Thanks to the redemption period, you may perform the late renewal of your hosting resources during these 7 days: it is a grace period of sorts, during which you may recover your server without loosing any of your data.
If you do not perform your renewal during the redemption period, your server will be deleted on the 7th day, and you will no longer have the possibility of renewing their resources after that.
The primary action that our system is expecting during the redemption period is the renewal of your resources or components that have expired and that your server needs to run.
If the components of resources that have expired are not attached to any server, there will be no action taken on your server or servers, and the resources will be removed from your account at the end of the redemption period without incident.
Note:
It is possible to have a hosting account in redemption period while your servers are running perfectly. What is important is that you analyze the resources that have or are about to expire and take care that the ones that provide the necessary components for your server's operation are kept active. The only action that you can perform on your server when it is on pause, other than the renewal of your resources, is the removal of shares from your server so that it uses fewer shares.
Once the redemption period has ended, our system automatically deletes the servers that use resources that have not been renewed. There is no way to recover your data at this point, as the deletion is permanent.
Important:
It is therefore important (and your contractual obligation) to perform regular updates of your server at a separate location. This is a good practice that also serves as a measure of security in the event that you forget renew your resources and have a server deleted. The best way to avoid the redemption period is enable automatic renewal for your resources and to consult the automatic mails that we send you with regards to the upcoming expiration dates.
You have the possibility of activating the automatic renewal of your resources. This feature will help you avoid the pausing of your servers: you just need to credit your prepaid account with enough credit so as to cover the cost of the operation, so it will be able to be renewed automatically when due.
The most important thing is to verify that your handle's email address is valid, and to check it regularly, so that you do not miss any automatic emails that inform you of the expiration of your resources.
These mails clearly indicate that your resources will be expiring and show you how much credit is in your prepaid account. These email reminders are sent:
Important:
Be sure that you have access to your handle's email address, and that you check it on a regular basis so that you do not miss these reminders!
