Definition of IPv4 Quota

You can purchase additional IPv4 addresses for your Gandi VPS, however the network interface configuration has been modified.

Previously, at each boot of the server, the /etc/init.d/gandi-config script requested network information from the dhcp server and then wrote the config in the system file (for example: /etc/network/interfaces).

With the release of the new feature from Gandi's hosting service, the interfaces are dynamically configured on the VPS. When an IP is associated to a machine, a dedicated interface will manage that IP address. This interface will receive its configuration by dhcp once connected to the VPS dynamically by udev.

If the interface is the primary interface for the machine (aka eth0), the DNS information, the default path, and the hostname for the VP will automatically be configured. In the case of a "secondary" interface (AKA eth1 etc.) only the IP address of the interface will be configured.

In the event of a removal of an interface from a machine, information concerning this deleted interface will simply be ignored by the system.

<note> The default path of the VPS will always be the same, and to reply to a distant client (ex. a web client), the packets will be sent from eth0. Also, the a bandwidth that is allocated to the secondary interfaces (eth1, ..) is only used when you access the network by the secondary interface, or if you customized your VPS's configuration. You can therefore allocate the maximum amount of bandwidth to eth0 and just 1% to the secondary interfaces.
