Gandi AI : Apache server management

Once you have installed an Apache server on your Gandi server, you can host as many websites as you want (depending on how much disk quota you have). You are not limited to hosting just one website on our server. Doing so is extremely easy as you will see.

Note:

Each website that you host on your server will have the same services as your gandi server. For example if you have installed a FTP, PHP, and/or MySQL server package, then each website that you host on your server will also be able to use those services…

1. Choose the server

From the "Server Overview" page, select the server that you want to use from the list in the "Server Administration" section towards the bottom of the page.

2. Click on "manage"

From the "System administration" section…

… click on the "manage" link that comes after "Services installed:"

3. Configure your Apache package

You will now see a section called "Packages installed on your server" that lists all the packages that you have installed on your Gandi server using Gandi AI…

…click on "Configure" that corresponds to your apache2 server

4. Choose your disk

If you have several disks attached to your server, you will have the option of choosing which one you want to add your website(s) to:

The total number of GB available to your websites depends on how big the disk is that you have chosen to put your website(s). The larger the disk, the more GB can be used for your website(s) on the disk.

Note:

you can only host your websites on ONE disk, not several. Thus all your websites must be in the SAME disk.

For example, if you have created a disk of 10 GB to be used for your websites, then, for example this could translate roughly like the following:

 1 website = 10 GB
 5 websites = 2 GB each
10 websites = 1 GB each
20 websites = 500 MB each
40 websites = 250 MB each
etc...

Thus, you can see that the question of "how big can my website be" simply depends on the size of the disk that you have created and then chosen to host your website.

Note:

Note that the minimum disk size is 1GB and the maximum is 250 GB.

5. Enter the host name

Click on the "Create" link that comes after "Virtual Hosts" in the HTTP server section, and a new form will appear:

Enter the name of the website that you want to host, and click "Submit" to validate. On the next page, view the new server configuration for validation and and click on "Submit" to start the server update.

The server update will take about 10 minutes.
