How to Accept a Transfer

After you have completed the transfer order, Gandi will send a transfer confirmation e-mail to the e-mail address of the owner of the domain as it is listed in the Whois database. In order for the transfer to occur, it is necessary to reply to the e-mail that you receive in a very special way.

If the current owner does not have an e-mail address, the mail is then sent to the administrative contact.

To accept the transfer, simply:

  • 'reply' to the e-mail, without changing the 'to' or the 'subject', if you are unsure, the 'to' must be: transfer-auth@gandi.net,
  • send the reply in 'Plain Text', without any signatures, or attached files or images,
  • erase the entire contents of the e-mail's body, with the exception of the transfer code.

Below is an example of what your conformation reply should look like before you send it:

If you sent us the letter in the correct format and before the 5-day deadline, you will receive a reply from Gandi saying that your transfer has been recorded.

If you do not receive this confirmation letter, or if you get a message saying your password was incorrect, please go back and reply to the confirmation letter, making sure that you follow the instructions carefully.
