====== Creating an IMAP account for Thunderbird ====== To begin, run Thunderbird, go to the "**Edit**" menu and select "**Account Settings...**" {{ https://www.gandi.net/static/images/tutorial/tb_config01-en.gif }} Select "**Add Account...**" and then "**Next**" {{ https://www.gandi.net/static/images/tutorial/tb_config02-en.gif }} Next, enter your information such as the e-mail address that will appear on your sent e-mails {{ https://www.gandi.net/static/images/tutorial/tb_config03-en.gif }} Select the option, "**IMAP**", and enter the name of your server, which will be "**imap.yourdomain.tld**". {{ https://www.gandi.net/static/images/tutorial/tb_config04-en.gif }} If the domain is "**ganditutorial.net**" for example, then the configuration will be "**pop.ganditutorial.net**" Please remember that "**www**" is NOT part of the domain name - it is only a sub-domain that is commonly used to direct a domain name to a website. Finally, enter the username: this is the same as the one that you chose during the creation of your e-mail address {{ https://www.gandi.net/static/images/tutorial/tb_config05-en.gif }} You may then enter a name for the account, so that you can rapidly identify it in your control panel (useful if you have several different e-mail accounts that you manage from the same Thunderbird application). Yippee! Yoou have completed the IMAP configuration of your Thunderbird. {{ https://www.gandi.net/static/images/tutorial/tb_config07-en.gif }} All that remains is to enter the password of your e-mail account (the one that you specified when you created your e-mail account) so that you can download your mail.
