Organization that manages the centralized database of domain names registered in a TLD zone.

It is the authoritative source of information, which updates whois and root nameservers for the TLD with the content of its database.

Registries for each TLD are:

    * .COM and .NET: Verisign
    * .ORG: Public Interest Registry (PIR)
    * .BIZ: Neulevel
    * .INFO: Afilias
    * .NAME: Global Name Registry (GNR)
    * .BE: DNSBE
    * .FR: AFNIC
    * .EU: EURid

Each TLD has its own policies and procedures. This structure has clients called 'registrars', which manage domain names for their customers.
